Facelift or Fillers? What’s Right for You

  • 0

The choice between a facelift or dermal fillers is a tricky one, and the best way to ultimately make the decision is to consult with a qualified plastic surgeon. The right plastic surgeon can help you assess the areas of your face that you’re most concerned about and figure out a treatment plan that makes sense for your budget, age, and comfort.

That said, here are a few things to keep in mind when comparing the benefits of dermal fillers and the benefits of a facelift in Venice, CA.

Facelifts have come a long way over the last 10 to 20 years. When done by board certified plastic surgeons, facelifts can have amazing, very natural looking results. There are many different kinds of facelifts which allow you to focus on different areas of the face and either minimize or maximize your results, according to your preference.

In a traditional facelift, an incision will be made along your hairline or near your ears, excess sagging skin will be removed, and the incision will be closed, leaving you with skin that appears more youthful and elastic.

Facelifts can provide results that last upwards of ten years. Dermal fillers, on the other hand, only provide results for three to six months. And they have their limitations. While dermal fillers can help make your cheeks look fuller and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, they can’t get rid of excess skin, and there will be some wrinkles that will simply be too deep to be eliminated by dermal fillers.

Of course, dermal fillers have a lot of benefits, especially for women under the age of 50. If your skin isn’t sagging and you don’t have particularly deep lines or wrinkles, dermal fillers can be a cost-effective way to take care of minor problems without undergoing unnecessary surgery or committing yourself to lasting results.

Again, the best way to make this decision is to talk to a plastic surgeon.
