Post Plastic Surgery Tips You May Not Have Thought Of

If you’re thinking about plastic surgery in Venice Beach, you’re probably focused on the results. You’re excited to have your body back the way it once was or to achieve results you’ve never had before. But before you can get to that point, you’ll need to go through the recovery process.

Recovery times vary from procedure to procedure and can be anywhere from a few days to several weeks. It’s important to understand that your final results will depend quite a bit on how you treat your body following a cosmetic procedure. The better you follow your surgeon’s post-surgery instructions, the better your results will be.

There are also a few things you can do to help make your recovery as quick and painless as possible.

  1. Start healthy habits early.

Some people go into plastic surgery thinking that they can mistreat their body in advance of the procedure because everything will be taken care of afterward. The better you treat your body before going in for a cosmetic procedure, the better your results will be. Treating your body right will also help make your procedure safer. It’s important to quit smoking and layoff alcohol and caffeine in the weeks leading up to your procedure. You should also keep a healthy diet and exercise routine.

  1. Get help.

I’m sure you’re very tough, but you’re going to be grateful to have someone around to help you make it through the first day or two following a cosmetic surgery. You need to relax and take it easy, and the best way to do that is to have someone around to help you with the little things that you might not think of before the procedure. If you have kids or work obligations, find people who can help you out with your needs before heading in for surgery.

Meditation is a simple and effective way to help your body and mind relax. Once you’re able and the doctor says it’s okay, start practicing simple yoga poses to help your body feel reinvigorated. You should also be sure to do the things that help you relax best, like sleeping in or indulging in crappy daytime TV.

  1. Take a multivitamin and drink lots of water.

Make sure you’re eating healthy during this time, and give your body the vitamins it craves with a good multivitamin. Drinking lots of water will also help encourage natural healing and reduce swelling and bruising as you recover.

After establishing a successful plastic surgery practice on the East Coast and accumulating over 20 years of experience, I decided to open a new office in Venice Beach. I'm thrilled to be here and cannot wait to work with new patients in Los Angeles. In my spare time, you’re most likely to find me at the yoga studio. I’m an avid yoga practitioner, and recently completed my 200-hour teacher training through the Yoga Alliance. I also enjoy surfing, cycling, and spending time with my two sons.
