Venice Plastic Surgery Top Trends

Over the first few months of opening my Venice Beach practice, I’ve noticed that the trends in plastic surgery around here are basically on par with the rest of the nation. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, plastic surgery increased 3% in 2014 from the year prior, and most of those procedures were obtained by women. However, men are making up a larger and larger chunk of plastic surgery patients, most frequently coming in for pectoral implants and male breast reduction surgery.

While still a small portion of plastic surgeries overall, the rise in Brazilian butt lifts has been astounding. From 2013 to 2014, buttock augmentation procedures increased 15% and buttock implants increased a whopping 98%. Here in Venice, an emphasis on the buttocks is definitely prevalent, but in my humble opinion, I expect the numbers for these procedures to slow down and perhaps even drop over the next few years.

One major concern here in Venice Beach is skin care. With so much exposure to the sun all year long, many men and women turn to cosmetic procedures to help reverse skin damage. The most popular skin treatments in Venice Beach are Botox and other dermal fillers, but chemical peels and micro-dermabrasion are also high on the list.

Many people in the LA area prefer a more natural approach to their skincare, which is why I provide a combination of topical and nonsurgical skin treatment options in addition to surgical options like laser resurfacing. I find that taking a holistic approach to skin care is the most effective remedy for sun damage and the best way to prevent future damage.

(Remember to wear that sunscreen and drink lots of water!)

In terms of cosmetic surgery, the most popular surgery is still breast augmentation, with nearly 300,000 procedures performed in 2014. One statistic that I am particularly happy about is the increase in breast reconstruction surgery for breast cancer survivors. It’s terrible that so many women lose their breasts to this terrible disease, but I am pleased that the plastic surgery field has stepped up and drastically improved breast reconstruction options over the last several years for these brave women.

As your Venice plastic surgeon, I can help you better understand your cosmetic surgery options and help you come up with a plan that is right for you. Schedule a consultation today to meet with me personally and discuss your goals. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you.

After establishing a successful plastic surgery practice on the East Coast and accumulating over 20 years of experience, I decided to open a new office in Venice Beach. I'm thrilled to be here and cannot wait to work with new patients in Los Angeles. In my spare time, you’re most likely to find me at the yoga studio. I’m an avid yoga practitioner, and recently completed my 200-hour teacher training through the Yoga Alliance. I also enjoy surfing, cycling, and spending time with my two sons.
